Welcome to the Future. A world where corporations write the laws and buy the lawmakers’ votes. A world where the corporate-owned media panders to the lowest common denominator, and even as it moves ever-further to the right continually brands itself as liberal and left-leaning. A world where those in power have perfected to a science the devilish arts of misinformation and distraction; who openly lie outright, then feign great moral outrage whenever anyone has the audacity to call them liars. A world where the United States Executive Branch runs roughshod and for the most part unchallenged over time-honored laws and regulations, not to mention the Constitution; all as they carry out the agendas of the powerful corporations who hand-picked them and put them where they are. A world where the greatest and most powerful nation openly engages in toture, indefinite detention, and spying on its own citizens.
Oh, wait…that’s the Present.
